From Hotel Schmitt head down Urbanusstraße then left onto the Senger and straight on towards the town centre. You walk along the main road now towards Röllbach up to the end of the town and then turn right down Triebweg. At the bottom on the left turn right again straight away onto Wendelinusstraße. The M2 starts for you here, which leads you on trails over fields and meadows into the beautiful Schmachtenberg.

Gasthaus Metzgerei Zur Sonne (Tel. 09372-2521) in Schmachtenberg invites you to take a rest. Opening hours every day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., closed on Mondays.

Before you start the walk back it is worth visiting the “St. Johannes der Täufer and Johannes der Evangelist” church in Schmachtenberg. To vary the walk back a bit you can also take the Prozeltener trail to Moenchberg. For this head left from the Sonne on Schmachtenberger Straße to the Prozeltener trail that heads right. Walk along this until the cycle path to Moenchberg branches off to the left. The cycle path takes you back to Moenchberg through the fields. Then you walk over the Hauptstraße and Senger again back to Urbanusstraße.
